The Four Treasures of Calligraphy You will be introduced to the essential tools of calligraphy, known as the Four Treasures of the Study (文房四宝): • Brush (毛笔) – The fundamental tool for creating elegant strokes. • Ink (墨) – Traditionally made from soot, mixed with water to achieve rich tones. • Inkstone (砚) – Used to grind solid ink into liquid form. • Rice Paper (宣纸) – Specially designed to absorb ink smoothly for artistic writing. Each guest will have their own set of tools for the session. 3. Hands-On Calligraphy Practice Under the guidance of the instructor, you will learn basic brush techniques, proper posture, and the correct stroke order for writing Chinese characters.
